From 25 September to 2 October 2026, the Institute of Chemistry of the Moldova State University hosted Prof. Bruno Pagano and Prof. Jussara Amato from the Department of Pharmacy of the Federico II University of Naples, Italy, within the framework of the Collaboration Agreement No. 2024/0147299 between our institutions.
During the visit, the guests had the opportunity to discuss current and future scientific activities of mutual interest with the Institute's researchers.
An important part of the visit was the delivery of two public lectures by Prof. Jussara Amato to students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of MSU, as a Visiting Professor, covering the following topics:
- “RNA Drug Development: From Molecular Design and Synthesis to Purification and Characterization” - Wednesday, 30 September 2026;
- “Beyond the Double Helix: Non-Canonical Nucleic Acid Structures as Targets for Drug Discovery” - Thursday, 1 October 2026.
The lectures addressed highly relevant, contemporary topics in the fields of nucleic acid chemistry and drug development.
This first visit by our Italian colleagues, who are world-renowned professionals in the field of medicinal chemistry and chemical biology, made a significant contribution to strengthening the collaboration between our institutions, laying a solid foundation for future development.
We express our sincere thanks to Dr. Elena Gorincioi, the coordinator responsible on behalf of the Institute of Chemistry of MSU for the implementation of the Collaboration Agreement No. 2024/0147299, for her involvement in organizing the visit of Prof. Bruno Pagano and Prof. Jussara Amato, as well as for her contribution to strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
